St. Louis, Missouri — October 9, 2006 Foundation for Children with Cancer (FCC) recently accepted a generous donation of $500 from National City as they celebrated one of their latest branch openings in St. Louis, Missouri, earlier this fall. Renee L. Kirkiewicz, executive director for FCC, accepted the donation from Branch Manager Julie Hunkins and Personal Banker Christine Christopher. “We are thrilled to be supported by so many wonderful national corporations such as National City”, commented Kirkiewicz. Their generosity reflects positively on their desire to be a true community partner and the families that we support will benefit immensely from this donation.
FCC was founded and is located in St. Louis, Missouri; however their efforts extend nationwide, helping families with children who are diagnosed with cancer. Working with social workers through a network of hospitals and clinics nationwide, FCC is able to step in and lend financial support for costs that aren t traditionally covered by insurance or other not-for-profit foundations, such as utility and mortgage payments and transportation costs associated with getting family members to and from hospitals for chemotherapy and other ongoing cancer treatments. Last year alone, FCC gave away more than $175,000 directly to families across the country who have children diagnosed with various forms of childhood cancer. FCC raises funds to support these families through a variety of fundraisers, the next of which is a wine tasting event on October 26, 2006.
